Gary was the coolest, most interesting person I have ever met. He and I were coworkers and came to realize we had similar childhoods in North Jersey, catching frogs and turtles, digging for worms and fishing. We shared a passion for being on the water and fishing. In the past thirty years I have been lucky enough to spend countless days with Gary either fishing on the Hudson for Stripers or kayaking and fishing for smallmouth bass on the Delaware. We were lucky and we knew it, high fiving and saying "who has it better than us". One of the benefits of being together all day was I got to hear the tales of his past adventures. So many adventures. Gary never stopped living his best life full of family and friends, he had a way of making each one of us feel special. I can't imagine the depth of loss that his loved ones are feeling. Gary talked often about all his family ,he loved each and every one of you. Love and miss you my friend . Wishing you tight lines Brother ! Bob "Sampson"

It all started on the eighth floor of the dorm in Akron, in the fraternity, and at the tower in Put-in-bay. Then I was gone for some time until Gary found me on Facebook 45 years later! I was finally reunited with these friends who meant so much to me. It was wonderful to be reconnected and warmly welcomed to the Shaba, to a Thanksgiving parade, and to share the Woodstock 50th anniversary concert together. You were a valued friend, shall be dearly missed, and will always be in my heart. Street

It has been over 20 years since I saw Mr. Ward in person, but the memories I have of him seem like they happened just yesterday. I always loved spending time at their house with his daughter, my childhood friend, Cassie, in upstate NY. We had many adventures in his shed of treasures and on "scenic route" road trips. We explored crystal caverns and even the junkyard! He touched my life and made my childhood (and adulthood) more joyous and spirited. I will think of him and remember his laugh and his stories. My heart is hurting now, but I know this is momentary and the life he lived is eternally with me and all of us.
