My deepest condolences to the extended Dehler family on their recent loss of their family patriarch, Bob Dehler. It has been my great privilege to be his neighbor for the last 18 years. One could not ask for a better neighbor! He was very kind and mindful of my deceased Mother, Mary. I was inspired to read former news journalist and author Tom Brokaw's, "The Greatest Generation" to learn more about the attributes of those that were children in the time of the Great Depression as well being active participants in World War II. As one could imagine, in my neighborly chats with Bob, he was always humble and downplayed any recognition that he served his country with dignity and honor. As far as being a part of the Greater Generation, Bob simply explained he did what he was taught to do without complaint because it was the right thing to do, like it or not. He also embraced the City of Port Jervis and its local events as both a participant and volunteer. You will be missed, Bob! Please know, Dehler family, that you are in my prayers in this time of saddest and grief. In closing, Psalm 30:5 reads, "There may be pain in the night, but joy comes in the morning.". Blessings!
