Obituary of Donna Marie Crawford

Please share a memory of Donna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Donna Marie Crawford (nee Keane), our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed on from this world on January 17, 2022. Donna fought a tough battle with dementia over the last 6 years, and ultimately COVID-19 relieved her from that ordeal. Her family is comforted that her fight has come to an end but will miss her dearly. Donna Marie Keane was born to William F. Keane and Phyllis Keane (nee Piatt) in Port Jervis, NY on May 16th, 1949. The oldest child of four and only daughter. She attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from Port Jervis High School with the Class of 1967. Donna married James David Crawford in 1972 at St Mary’s Church. Donna and Dave had 3 children and were married until 1996. Donna was a 30-year employee of Delaware Valley School District and retired in 2010. Donna was preceded in death by her mother and father, as well as her dear in-laws, James and Arlene Crawford, and ex-husband James David Crawford, brother-in-law Jeff Crawford, and most recently, her cherished sister-in-law Christine Crawford. Donna is survived by her sons and daughters in law; Eric and Heather Crawford, Cora (age 13) and Griffin (10) of Moscow, ID; Her daughter Sara Crawford and Hayden Mead (17) of Milford; Ethan and Lauren Crawford, Lucinda (7), Celia (4) also of Moscow, ID. Donna was delighted to be a grandmother and took every chance to spend time with her grandchildren. Donna loved to watch her children’s and grandson’s sporting endeavors, enjoyed bowling in the women’s Thursday night bowling league, volunteered with the Pike County Historical Society, and was a member of the local Red Hat Society. Donna was a devout Catholic woman and for most Sundays of her life could be found at the 9am mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. In addition to her progeny Donna is survived by her precious brothers and sisters in law: Kevin and Dawn Keane of Port Jervis, NY; Billy and Michele Keane; Sparrowbush, NY and Michael and Karen Keane of Easley, SC; as well as her brothers and sisters in law from marriage, Andrew and Bridget Crawford of Matamoras, and Meg and Jim Casimiro of Matamoras. Donna also leaves behind 13 nieces and nephews: James Casimiro, Tara Paradiso (Casimiro), Sean Keane, Aimee Keane, Jennifer McNally (Keane), Colin Keane, Kyle Keane Eamon Keane, Taylor Moyer (Crawford), Dylan Keane, Maura Dishart (Keane), Kaitlyn Keane and Ryan Keane. The family extends their most sincere appreciation to Paul Nyamai and Mercy Ndambuki as well as the rest of the family and staff at Considerate Care in Pullman, Washington. They provided necessary care to Donna throughout her battle that her family was not equipped to provide. We take solace knowing that she was well cared for and loved by her caregivers. Donna cared and loved deeply all she knew, and could always be counted on to provide grace and compassion. In fact, Donna was such a caring and a vigilant mother that her children and some friends lovingly referred to her as ‘Hawk’ or ‘The Hawk’ because of her always watchful eye and protective ways. Heaven knows she is up there with a clear mind watching over us all now. Donna’s family will receive friends 12:30 PM-1:30 PM, Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, Matamoras, PA.
