Gary V. Jones age 70, of Port Jervis, NY passed away Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Garnet Medical Center, Middletown, NY. He was born in Port Jervis, NY on February 14, 1951, the son of Herbert and Marcella Gunderman Jones. Gary retired as a school bus driver for the Delaware Valley School District in Westfall, PA. He enjoyed the students and was proud to learn sign language to communicate with those in in need. In his earlier years Gary worked at the Port Jervis A& P Food Store and as a merchandise manager for Shop Rite Food Stores. He was an active member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Port Jervis. He was a member and Past Exalted ruler, District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler, Past State Vice President of the East Central District for the Port Jervis Lodge of Elks, #645, B.P.O.E., and a past. He volunteered for various committees and was very proud of all the charitable endeavors the Elks participated in, especially the Christmas program. He was an avid golfer, hunter, and trout fisherman. He thoroughly enjoyed the great outdoors. Gary married Jill Chant, who pre-deceased him on November 15, 2020. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Jones of Poughkeepsie, NY, his two sons; Steven Jones and his wife Lisa of Guam, and Matthew Jones and his wife Lacy of Shohola, PA, his beloved grandchildren; Nicholas June, Noah June, Brody Jones, Rozlin, Aila and Zane Jones, his brothers, Richard Jones and his wife Beth of Montague, NJ, and Thomas Jones and his wife Bonnie of Edgewater, Florida, several nieces, and nephews. Gary was predeceased by his sisters; Alice Osborne, Frances Gick, his brothers; Warren Jones, Michael Jones, Albert Jones, David and Charles Jones. He was formerly married to the late Jeanne Geiger. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to B.P.O.E. #645 Elks Children’s Christmas Fund., 35 US 6, Port Jervis, NY 12771.
