Obituary of Fernando Serra

Fernando Serra of Peekskill, died on December 19, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was 63 years old. 

The son of Alicia and the late Noe Serra, he was born on August 2, 1961 in San Jose, Uruguay. 

After completing his studies Fernando set out to a begin a life in the United States.  He made it his home and loved his Country, being proud to have become a United States citizen.  Fernando was a "jack of all trades" making a career as an Auto Mechanic.  He loved nature, and enjoyed being out in his boat on it or riding in a classic car through the country side.  

Leyla wishes for everyone to remember Fernando as the caring, generous man that he was, who loved life and showed his humanistic heart through the care of his cats.  

In addition to his father Fernando was predeceased in life by his brother German Serra. 

He is survived by his mother Alicia Urta in Uruguay.  Beloved life partner of Leyla Ditterlizzi at home.  Father of Damian Serra.  Dear brother of Eduarda Serra.  Cherished uncle of Favianna Huertas, Melisa Echevarria, Giancarlo Echevaria, Edson Espadoni, Marcel Espadoni, Mauricio Espadoni, Persy Herrera, Sergio Herrera, Milton Paredes, Gabriel Herrera, Adrian Herrera and Sebastian Herrera.  

Services are private at this time.  Cremation will take place at MacLennan Hall Crematotium.  Following cremation Fernando's remains will be repatriated to his native Uruguay.
