Mary E. Lewis went home to her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on November 4, 2024. She passed peacefully from this life to the next at her home. She was 101.
The daughter of the late John and Matilda Porzelt, she was born on July 29, 1923 in Mongaup, NY.
A woman of deep faith her life was centered around it and at the center of her heart was Jesus. Mary was a Sunday school teacher at Drew United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She would later become a member of the Milford Bible Church.
A servant of God she believed in welcoming everyone into her home. Mary cared for many in their last days and God blessed her to be cared for in her final years. Her family and friends will miss her greatly but are thankful to have the assurance of seeing her again in Heaven. Knowing she was trusting in Jesus Christ alone for forgiveness of sins and eternal life in Heaven.
In addition to her parents Mary was predeceased in life by her husband John K. Lewis.
Beloved mother of John J. Lewis (Judy), George W. Lewis (Ginger) and David R. Lewis (Lanore). Cherished grandmother of Brian Lewis, Lisa Johns (Joshua), Elizabeth Egoy (Pastor Neil Cher), Daniel Lewis (Cheryl), Ruth Wylie, John A. Lewis (Crystal), Mary R. Lewis, Sarah Lewis, Jeremiah Lewis (Jaysharee), Jennifer Kraham (Jim), Jeffrey Lewis (Stephanie) and Mark Lewis. Great grandmother of 20.
The family wishes to thank faithful caregivers that allowed Mary to pass in peace at home most especially Cindy Utter, Alicia Lamberson, Margaret Feeney, Nancy Tolleson, Debbie Hulse and the dedicated staff of the Hospice of Orange & Sullivan.
A memorial service will take place 3:00PM on Saturday 11/23 at The Milford Bible Church, 110 Foxcroft Dr, Milford, PA 18337. Cremation was held at MacLennan Hall Crematorium.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to either the Milford Bible Church or the Hospice of Orange and Sullivan.
