Roy Retallick Obituary

 Roy Retallick, a lifetime resident of the area, died peacefully on October 2, 2024. He was 89.


The son of the late Roy W. and Bertha Retallick, he was born on Sept 16, 1935, in Matamoras, PA. 


Roy proudly served our country in the United States Navy.  He worked for the railroad upon returning home where he forged many friendships.  He attended East Stroudsburg University where he earned a degree in education.  Roy started his career as a math teacher at Port Jervis Middle School, where he taught for over 25 years.  A jack-of-all trades, his talents and skills were countless.  Among his many hobbies, he enjoyed camping,  wood working, working on cars and spending time with friends and family.  He loved to watch racing and sports, listen to music, and was fascinated with trains.


In addition to his parents, Roy was predeceased in life by his son Christopher, and his sister Berta Chiovarou.


He is survived by his wife Ann, and sons Roy, Michael, Arthur, Wayne, and Brian (Stacey) Retallick, as well as his grandchildren; Nicholas, Mackenzie, Bryan, Anthony (Ashley),  Lauren, Alyse (Greg) Funck, Madison and Dylan Retallick and 6 great grandchildren.


Visitation will be on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 10am to 12pm at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 East Main Street, Port Jervis, NY. Family Reflections will take place at 12pm at the funeral home with a private burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery in Sparrowbush, NY.  


In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to St. Jude’s Children’s hospital.
