Obituary of Lester W. Ostrom

Lester W. Ostrom “Poppy” a lifelong resident of Port Jervis, passed away on September 23, 2024.  He was 81 years old. 

He was born on August 15, 1943 in Port Jervis, NY to the late Wilbur and Katherine Ostrom.

Lester worked and retired from Gillinder Glass, having been a professional glassblower.  He thoroughly enjoyed his roll as grandfather to Nyah and the time he spent with her became his favorite place to be.  An avid outdoorsman Lester spent countless days hunting, fishing or even just being outside chopping wood.   Lester was a longtime member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Port Jervis.  He held firm to the teachings of the Bible where the Hope of
Revelation 21: 3,4 was the hope he held dear.

In addition to his parents Lester was predeceased in life by his siblings Kenny, Joseph, Leonard and Elizabeth Ostrom.  

He leaves behind the love of his life Sally Helt Ostrom.  Beloved father of Darrell Ostrom (Julie Oleander) of AZ, Kirsten Ostrom Markey (Husband - Kevin Markey) of SC and Brienne Ostrom Sehulster of Sparrowbush.  Cherished grandfather of Nyah Sehulster.  Dear brother of Katherine Roeder, Joann Padgett, Cheryl Ostrom, Donald Ostrom, Robert Ostrom and Raymond Ostrom.  Uncle to many nieces and nephews.  

A visitation will take place on Saturday 9/28 from 10AM t0 12Noon at KNIGHT-AUCHMOODY Funeral Home.  Funeral Service 12Noon at the Funeral Home.  Following services interment will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush.
