It is with a heavy heart we announce Betty A. Speaker, 91, of Sparrowbush, New York passed away on August 24, 2024.


Betty was born on June 8, 1933, to Henry and Adele Holthusen in Queens, New York.  For most of her life she lived in in the Town of Highland where she owned a diner, ran a daycare and raised her sons.  She enjoyed caring for children and loved listening to Grand Opera.


Betty was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Adele Holthusen, two brothers Sonny and Herman Holthusen, husband Alan Speaker and brother-in-law John Horn.


She is survived by her sons, Robert Speaker, Richard Speaker and his wife Melissa, sister Louise Horn, grandchildren Patrick Speaker and his wife Daniella, Jennifer Speaker, Jason Ward, great grandchildren Jayce and Kane Speaker and several nieces and nephews.  


There will not be any services a memorial will be held at a later date by the family.
