Engracia Rivera Obituary

Engracia Rivera a former longtime resident of NYC died peacefully on June 14, 2024 in Goshen, NY.  She was 84.


The daughter of the late Jorge Bonilla and Carmen Valentin, she was born on April 7, 1940 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.  


Engracia would go on to receive her Master’s Degree and work and retire as a Teacher with the NYC Department of Education.  In her career she also taught with the Head-Start Program, to help parents and families achieve their own goals in employment, housing or educational aspects of life.  She was a woman of faith and a devout Roman Catholic.  


In addition to her parents Engracia was predeceased in life by her daughter Annette O’Neill, daughter in law Maria Rivera and her brothers Jorge Bonilla Jr. and Roberto Bonilla.  


Beloved mother of Jorge Rivera with his wife Lisa of Midway, GA, and Osvaldo Rivera of Shirley, NY.  Cherished grandmother of Kristina, Alisa, Emilia, Jorge Daniel, Jessica, Eric, Mercedes, Angel, Joseph and Melonie.  Dear great grandmother of Autumn, Jalen, Olivia, Arabella, Theodore, Adrien and Amela.  


A visitation will take place on Tuesday 6/18 from 9:00AM to 12Noon and 2:00PM to 5:00PM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home 154 East Main Street, Port Jervis NY 12771.  A Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday 10:00AM at St. Mary’s RC Church, Port Jervis.  The procession will form from the funeral home, please arrive at 9:00AM.  Following the Funeral Mass a private cremation will take place at MacLennan Hall Crematorium, Milford PA.
