Donna M. Chant a lifetime resident of Port Jervis died peacefully at home with her family by her side, on May 9, 2024.  She was 76.

The daughter of the late Alexander & Ada King Melnick, she was born on
December 15, 1947 in Port Jervis.

Donna had a deep love and affection for animals.  Many dogs were blessed to have her as their mother.  She had several horses in life that she cared for and kept on her property at home. 

In addition to her parents Donna was predeceased in life by her husband CB Chant, her sister Georgette Lynn Melnick, sister in law Betty Ann Melnick her nieces Lori Ann Melnick, Michelle Erica Innella, Lori Ann Crist and great nephew Avell William Crist.

Donna is survived by her brothers Alexander (JoAnn) Melnick and George (Kim) Melnick, sisters Charlene (Mike) Innella, Denise (Jerry) Tyler and Tammy (Tom) Crist who stepped in to care for her after the untimely passing of her husband CB.  Niece of Robert Elston in addition to many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

As per her wishes there will be no formal services, cremation took place at MacLennan Hall Crematorium, Milford. 

Donations may be made in Donna’s memory to the Hospice of Orange and Sullivan 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh NY 12550.
