Frank "Poppy" Nielsen Obituary

Frank Henry Nielsen “Poppy”, a lifetime resident of the area, died peacefully at home with his family by his side on December 14, 2023. He was 86.


The son of the late Henry and Janie Nielsen, he was born on July 19, 1937 in Godeffroy, NY.


Frank was a 1957 graduate of Port Jervis High School. He would go on to join the United States Army and serve our Country. Frank worked for many years and then retired from the NYC Dept of Environmental Protection. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the Tri-State Rod and Gun Club, and the Metaugue Falls Sportsman Club in Rio, NY.


In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased in life by his sister, Mary Tumasian.


Beloved husband of Caroline Nielsen at home. Devoted Father of Karen Charikofsky with her husband Brian. Dear Brother of Shirley Swartwood and Henry Nielsen, and brother-in-law Louis Innella. Cherished Uncle to his Nieces and Nephews.
