Obituary of Paul R. Spurr

Paul R. Spurr age 92 of Montague, New Jersey passed away, October 12, 2021 in Port Jervis, NY. He was born in Rutland Vermont on October 16, 1928 the son of Elijah and Dorothy Wilson Spurr. Paul proudly served our country during WW II (1945-1949) and then during the Korean War (1950-1953), with the US Army. He served with the 82nd Airborne Div., during WW II, and the 5th infantry during Korea. He retired as a mechanical engineer for Picatinny Arsenal in Wharton, New Jersey. Paul was a 50+ year member of the Kittatiny Lodge of Masons, #164, F&AM in Branchville, NJ, he was a member of Lehigh Consistory, he was a Past High Priest and member of the Knights Templar, Baldwin Chapter, Newton, NJ, and a member of the Irem Shriners, Wilkes- Barre, PA. Paul was an avid baseball player and was inducted into the Sussex County Sports Hall of Fame. He traveled extensively to play baseball and to umpire for 65 years. He was an active member of the Sparta Recreational Committee and was instrumental in creating numerous baseball fields in Sussex County. Paul married Jacqueline DeGroat Spurr, who pre-deceased him in 2018. He is survived by his on, Keith Spurr and his wife Barbara of Sandyston, New Jersey, his beloved grandchildren; Wendy Kleyman and her husband Igor, Erin Spurr, and Alex Spurr, his great grandchildren; Saige, Coral, and Brighton, his sister, Caroline Conroy of Dingmans Ferry, PA, his brother, Robert Spurr of Succasuna, PA, and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the Kittatiny Masonic Lodge #164, Route 206, Branchville, New Jersey. Interment will be private. MEMORIAL SERVICE

WILL BE HELD AT 2PM, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2021 AT THE KITTATINY MASONIC LODGE #164, ROUTE 206, BRANCHVILLE, NEW JERSEY. INTERMENT WILL BE PRIVATE.
