Obituary of Nellie King Hjerrild

Nellie King Hjerrild a lifelong resident of Glen Spey died peacefully at home on October 14, 2023.  She was 94. 

The daughter of the late Albert Sr. & Lillian Donahue, she was born on January 9, 1929 in Glen Spey.   

Nellie was one of the few of her generation left of "Old Glen Spey". Where its past times of what made the area a special place to live was committed to memory.  Her love to share it with anyone who asked faded into the past itself yesterday.  Her family recalls her as a woman that would do anything to help, giving the shirt off her back.  She was a life member of the Pond Eddy United Methodist Church.  

In addition to her parents she was predeceased in life by her first husband Gordon King and second husband  Anders Hjerrild,  brothers Albert "Don", George, Lester "Chapy" Donahue, her sister Adele Goble and son in laws Jack Powderly, Hank Kidney and Stephen Shinol.  

Dear sister of Lucy "Tiny" Brown, Lena Kent and John "Wick" Donahue.  Beloved mother of Lois Powderly, Richard King (Sharon), Linda Kidney, Wayne King (Lorry), Allen King (Cathy) and Cindy Shinol.  Nellie was a grandmother, great & great great grandmother to many.  

A graveside service will take place 11:30AM on Saturday October 21st at Glen Spey Cemetery.  The Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst officiating.
