Obituary of Frederick W. Gerle

Frederick "Fred" W. Gerle sadly passed away on October 12,2023 at Bon Secours Community Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was 89.
He was born on July 10, 1934 in Kings Point, NY, son of the late Eric P. and Helen Darlington Gerle.
Fred was drafted during the Korean war and served our country with the US Army. He was stationed in Fort Huachuca, AZ. He also attended Haverhill Academy and graduated with a degree in Engineering. He spent most of his working career as a construction superintendent with Helmer Cronin Construction Company, retiring in 1999.
Fred was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. In his spare time he loved all horticulture and tending to his lawn and gardens. He was always known to have one of the greenest lawns in Port Jervis and took tremendous pride in his landscaping.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 61 years, Sarah Gerle; his son John F. Gerle of Port Jervis, NY; his daughters Helen (Betsy) Wilkes and her companion T.A. Kolvenbach of Port Jervis, NY; Emily Mehedin and her husband George of Greentown, PA; Mary Kowal and her husband Chad of Cuddebackville, NY and his beloved grandchildren Janelle, Lauren, Austin and Blake. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brothers, Dr. Richard Gerle of Wesley Chapel, FL; Robert Gerle of Gettysburg,PA; and his sister Ellen Cox of Norcross, GA.
A private graveside service will take place 11:30AM on Thursday October 19th at Laurel Grove Cemetery.
