I will never forget how Dr. Hassan told me about his daughter . She had left for college. I think her first year. When he received a box in the mail containing her long locks of hair. He could not believe she had cut it off . I think he shared this with me because I have very long hair. He loves his daughter and children very much .I’m sure they have made him very proud . RI.P

Dear Uncle,
The cherished memories you created for me during my childhood will forever hold a special place in my heart. Every time I put on earrings, I am reminded of the wonderful wish you helped come true. You had my ears pierced. I fondly recall the times when you, Cathy, Amir , and Maryam would visit, and those moments remain some of my fondest childhood memories.
You weren't just a beloved uncle, you were an exemplary member of our family.
I yearn for more moments in your presence.
Please know that you will always have a permanent place in my heart, and my love for you will endure eternally.
With heartfelt love,
Elaheh

I have the most beautiful memories with my Papa, Dr. Hassan. We called him Papa, because when we were little we could not say Grandpa, so we called him Papa! We used to watch the birds together and he would tell me the names of them. His favorite were the cardinals. One of my favorite memories was on a Fourth of July when I was little. My Dad and Papa were lighting fireworks. Then all of a sudden the grass starts on fire! My Grandma yells for him to get water, but instead he runs inside to get his camera!! His pool was one of the greatest I have ever swam in. Whenever we would go out to swim, he would say "You're going swimming- okay, but don't get wet!!" I am so lucky to have made so many memories with my WONDERFUL Papa, including sitting with him on this motorcycle on our first cruise!!
Love, Catherine

You are the smartest, kindest, and nicest person I knew. You would always let me use my Go-Kart and we always talked for so long and I miss you so much. Words cannot express how much I miss you. I think of you every day. This picture was from our first cruise - to Bermuda last summer - thanks for taking us!

Dear Papa,
I miss waking up early in the morning and eating breakfast alone with you. And you are the only one who loved spicy food as much as me. I love how whenever something happened, you would always run for your camera instead of help. I really, really miss you. This picture was from your last Father's Day.

Dad - you spent your entire life serving and protecting others. Strength, dignity and compassion were your calling cards.

Before I share words about our beloved Hassan, I feel I must share who I am,
and why he made such an impression on me. My friends and family will share
that I am very open and honest, and my brother-in-law saw that from the very
start of his relationship with Cathy. She is a classy lady from the word go and
this younger sister admits that I tried to fix her up with MY friends, but no
one ever had her eyes sparkling like her Hassan!
From the start of their relationship, it was THEIR special time and all I know
is that they made each other happy! In all their years together, Cathy came
first and all you had to do was watch them when they were together and you
saw that special glow. These two very different people completed each other
and anyone who knew Hassan and Cathy saw that!
Their love of their career field was obvious to all who knew them, and
Lawrence Hospital was the setting of the initial magic. His compassion when
dealing with mothers and babies was seen daily and his gentle manner with
everyone at Lawrence saw that love.
I admit I did get free medical advice from this great OB/GYN. Unlike some of
the May girls, I found it difficult to conceive. Dr. Hassan was understanding
and answered all my questions….and no bill! BTW, he also was on my case to
the day he died about what I ate (and did not eat!) and my lack of exercise!
Hassan Sadaghiani cared.
Hassan was a dutiful son, a loving husband and father. He was a grandparent
who anticipated the little ones needs before their parents even did and he
was an example of selfless service to our extended family.
His gentle voice, loving eyes and caring personality changed wherever they
were….from Port Jervis to Brooklyn and all points in between. Hassan made
a difference and we loved him.
Hassan was kind without being overbearing.
Hassan was brilliant without being obnoxious.
Hassan was creative and shared his talents.
Hassan was a talented son, father, grandfather, friend and doctor.
Faith, love and compassion….when we all reach eternity….I am looking for
our Hassan…..he is fixing up eternity as I proof this!

Dr. H., you gave the world your special gift for decades practicing medicine and bringing life into this world. You helped me in my time of need offering advice and reading my medical records all the way from NY to help me deliver two healthy and beautiful babies in Houston, TX. This was one of the best moments in my life and I will never forget your kindness and compassion. In your honor, I will donate blood and plasma regularly to help share the gift of life like you did.
It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we say farewell. It is not goodbye, it is until we meet again. We take comfort in, knowing you’re no longer in pain, and we will cherish all of our special memories of you.

I remember the last time we saw Hassan. It was at Laurie's house in Dallas. I happened to have an old photo of Laurie and me in a wheelbarrow at 6 months old. When Hassan saw it, his face lit up with delight at this old family memory and he rushed off to show it to Cathy.
His delight at this family memory said everything about him and his love of family and friends. He will be missed.

When I was first introduced to Dr, Sadaghiani ,at a nurses station in Lawrence Hospital more than 50 years ago, my first impression was "he is such a gentleman". I was soon able to add " always kind, patient and caring to all"
When he stole the heart of my good friend ,Cathy, I knew he would always be part of my life.
Among my fondest memories are those of the days I spent with his family in Tehran during the early days of the Iranian revolution. In spite of the restrictions of Marshall Law, Hassan went out of way to ensure that my stay was interesting and fun--including rescuing me when I foolishly decided to take an up close photo of the tanks patrolling the streets!
My fondest for Hassan was coupled with a deep respect for his strong faith and unfailing devotion to family.
Hassan, may you rest in the eternal peace which you have earned. with love Mary Anne Cawley

We first met Hassan in the mid 1970s, as he began dating my sister, and there was something very special about him. He was inquisitive about so many different topics, and my favorite memory of him back then revolved around his desire to understand how things worked. He purchased a new car, a Pontiac or Dodge two door sport. It was bright orange with a white vinyl top, very stylish. I came home one day, found him in our garage, with the hood of the car open, and most of the engine in pieces on towels around the garage floor. Remember, this was a BRAND-NEW car. He was taking parts of the engine apart to understand “how they worked”. And when he finished his examination, he put the entire engine back together and he was very content! The car operated great, and to this day, we are amazed at all his accomplishments that were in many ways self-learned.
Hassan was respectful to everyone he met, and we knew he was very special. We never heard him utter a bad word about anyone. He referred to his in-law parents as Mommy and Daddy, and they loved him dearly. There’s no doubt that they were there to welcome him to eternal peace.
He took Sue, his future sister-in-law, late one night to be in the delivery room as he was about to welcome another baby into the world. Sue was soon to be a Pediatric Nurse, and since she had not witnessed a birth, Hassan offered for her to join him in the delivery room and he made it a very special experience for her.
Hassan was a gentle quiet man, who loved his family, his extended family, his friends, and the many patients he served throughout his years in medicine. So many lives started in his capable hands, and none more important than the two children he adored, Amir and Maryam. He traveled the world with his love Cathy, seeing so many sights with many of his dear friends. He and Tom had a private challenge, where if Hassan ever got to the Great Wall of China, that he would yell out loud (Which was so against his nature). We received a short e-mail video one day, with the Great Wall in the background, and Hassan’s voice yelling “Tom, I made it!”.
We celebrate his life, all his love, we know that he will live on in our memories, and he is at peace. So, until we are reunited, what we’ll say with love is “Hassan, YOU made it!”

So many memories through the years, of Hassan’s kindness and the fun we would have together. I loved our Hawaii travels and the memory that keeps sticking in my mind is of him feeding the birds wherever we happened to be at the moment. At breakfast , he would sit on the lanai and feed the birds. Sitting on the beach, he would be surrounded by birds. He got quite the looks from anyone who passed by!
And the camera….he loved to preserve special moments. So many of his pictures are in my house. It became a “ thing” for me to send him a photo so that he could edit it-he was really good at fixing our hair for the Christmas picture!
But most of all, I am grateful for the absolute adoration that he had for my sister Cathy. There was never any doubt that he thought she hung the moon. During the 45 years that they were married, they were truly a team, building a family and showering Amir and Maryam with all their love.
I will forever be grateful that Hassan was my brother in law. I will miss him always.

Hassan was a true adventurer, very energetic and always pushing himself to explore more places. I recall first meeting him and his loving wife, Cathy, on a Tauck trip to the canyons in 2017. I will always remember and be thankful to him pushing me to go down the Grand Canyon at 5 am. This was something he truly did for me since he was there before. I will always associate the Grand Canyon with Hassan!
Our next trip, also with Tauck, was a safari in South Africa in 2019. Hassan was very excited to see more and more animals and record them in fantastic pictures of amazing birds and animals, including the Big Five. I think travel was one of his main hobbies, in addition to photography and exercise. I have been enriched by knowing him and will always remember his energy, willingness to help and positive outlook on life! He will be truly missed!

We will always have very fond memories of Hassan on our trips together to other counties and different continents. Hassan was always the life of the group, always helpful and always with a big smile. He was not the youngest, but the most vigorous and adventurous. I will remember him getting on the bus and greeting everyone with a smile on the way to his seat. Carrying his big camera he would take tons of pictures which we were so happy to receive after we got home. We remember fondly our conversation during the beautiful dinners as we got to know more about each other. We feel blessed that our lives have crossed.

Dear Cathy and Family -
Hassan and I have a long history. We went to medical school together, the military, and came to the United States at the same time. We lived in Bronxville, NY during our internship. We bought our first cars together - Buick LeMans. Mine was blue and Hassan’s was orange. We lived near a lake with many ducks so we decided to capture one and cook it with polo. It never happened, but we tried !
We went back to our Iran where Linda and I were able to attend Cathy and Hassan’s wedding. We lived there for two years before coming back to the States. We raised our families and on occasion traveled together. Our last trip together was in December of 2022. Hassan was a wonderful, kind, and gentle person. He lived his life with gratitude and graciousness. Linda and I loved him very much. We will always keep him in our hearts. His memory will be a blessing to us.

In future years, I was privileged to meet and work with his beautiful wife Cathy. You could tell by the way they spoke about each other and their children and grandchildren that there is much love in this family, just as I know that even though you are grieving at this time, that you will continue to be a strong and sturdy family unit in his honor. I pray that you, Amir and Maryam will find solace in due time and have the strength and endurance to sustain this intolerable loss.
Fond memories came gushing out of the back doors of my mind, on hearing of this news. He was the most humble and kind human being I ever knew. You saw a perpetual smile on his face with never a frown or displeasure.
Both of us started our training at Lawrence Hospital, Bronxville N.Y.
Serendipitous faith will again united us at Bon Secure Hospital Port Jervis N.Y. in 1980. Our children went to the same schools and we often spent time together dining and listening to Indian and Iranian music which he loved. We even bought and shared an R.V. together.
In addition to being an excellent physician, his prowess extended to vastly adverse interests such as electronics, mechanics and how to dress a bagged deer. I say this because I have been a witness of his performance, to each of these disciplines.
My daughter Jayme was born in 1982. Prior to her delivery, Hassan had offered his services for her delivery at any time of day and night. I will be eternally grateful to him when in my presence, his hands were the wings of the stork that brought Jayme to this world. She is now a psychiatrist and assistant professor at Indiana University school of medicine in Indianapolis. Thank you Hassan my dear friend. My you dwell in Heaven and look down upon us with fond memories.
Thank you Cathy. Wishing you, Amir and Maryam the best in life.
Affectionately,
Naseer Ahmed M.D.

Dr Hassan Sadaghiani was not only the eldest of the siblings in Sadaghiani's family but also he was the smartest, kindest and most supportive one. While he will be missed dearly, we are lighting a white candle to celebrate his great achievements in life.
Hassan had a great life thanks to his wonderful wife 'Cathy', lovely children 'Amir' & 'Maryam' and his grandchildren.
Words cannot express the depth of my gratitude for the support Cathy offered Hassan and all the family throughout Hassan's illness.
I spoke with Hassan when he was making preparations for his departure to the eternal life. He was as strong and content as ever. He could not wait to meet our late parents and my late husband 'Masoud'.

Dr. Hassan took wonderful care of my Mom through 3 pregnancies & deliveries of my 2 sisters & I. He also cared for me & delivered my 1st baby.
Dr. Hassan saved my Mom's life ! Her uterus & other internal organs were falling into her vaginal walls. If untreated, these can twist & bleed out.. Dr. Hassan performed a histoceyle & rectoceyle- tacking everything back up into place- repairing the wall between the uterus & bowel.. After the surgery, Dr. Hassan with teary eyes & deep sincerity told us that "She was a mess." (The surgery had taken much more time than expected.) He went on to explain a lil more but that Mom should fully recover. The skills required for this surgery is hard to come by- So Glad that Dr. Hassan was there ! (A warning to ladies that have children & are self-motivated to "get things done" & do heavy lifting in the garden & around the house..- be sure to have your annual exams & be careful - get tools or ask a strong guy to help out ! Dr. Hassan explained ladies organs are for birthing & not man-uel labor ! These things can stretch & weaken organs walls & cause hernias- menopausal "drying out" of female organs can worsen the situation..
We are so Very Thankful for Dr. Hassan & his dedication to his patients! We had many wonderful yrs. with my Mom because of Dr. Hassan's commitment to "his gift" ! Our sincerest condolences to the many that will miss him ! May you all be comforted & inspired by him to live & love in the present- it's a gift !

Standing right behind you on your wedding day, the little girl in red knew you and Auntie Cathy were the greatest gifts in her life. I will not miss you at all because you will always be in my heart. I will treasure the sweet memory of our morning walks in Paris and lengthy telephone conversations.

I was so saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. Hassan. Though he wasn't my primary Obstetrician, he cared for me while I was in the hospital with pregnancy complications. He reassured me that "the baby is fine--it's the mother that needs to relax." (I was neurotic with that pregnancy.) Dr. Hassan was wonderful and had a fantastic bedside manner. He is forever in my memory. I pray that his family and friends will be comforted by many happy memories of this wonderful man. Blessings to you all.

Dr Hassan was a great Doctor! If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be here. I remember that I was having so much pain. My prior Doctor wouldn’t see me. I winded up in the ER and he came in and said I needed surgery right away. I had an Optic pregnancy. When I woke up after the Surgery and he came in he told me that I would have died in a few hours because I was so bad. He saved my life and I am so ever grateful to him! He became my Doctor after. He would call me after my recovery to see how I was doing and he was so compassionate. I am forever grateful. My condolences and prayers to the family…

My heart is truly broken to hear of Dr. Hassan’s passing. He was a beacon of light for me and my family as I battled toxemia with both of my children. He never left my side and as a young, soon to be mom I wasn’t scared for one second. He held my hand and assured me everything was going to be ok! He even dried a rose I was given for each child and presented it to me at my follow up appointment!
And under his amazing care he was exactly right! His kindness, compassion and love for his patients and this community will always hold a special place in my heart. Rest Easy Doc❤️

Firstly, deepest sympathies to your family. I met you at 18, and started working for you at 24. I spent 10 years with you, Dr. Brunn and the rest of the Port Jervis OB/GYN family. You taught me so much and I will always cherish the time with you and Cathy. You were there for the birth of my boys and we are forever grateful. Rest in peace. God bless your family.
