Joseph L. Pagano, age 90 of Milford, PA and formerly a life long resident of Port Jervis, passed away October 7, 2021 in Suffern, NY. He was born on September 30, 1931 in Port Jervis, NY, the son of Anthony and Lucy Marioni Pagano. He graduated from Port Jervis High School in 1949, where he lettered in football, basketball and track. He was selected All DUSO League in 1948. After graduation Joe proudly served our country with the US Marine Corp., as Sgt., from 1951-1954, during the Korean War era. He was the owner of Joe’s Barber Shop in Port Jervis, for over 60 years, and continued to cut hair until he closed his shop at the age of 85. Joe served as a councilman for the City of Port Jervis for six years and then was elected as a legislator for the County of Orange for 16 years. He was a member of St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in Matamoras, a member of the Tri-State Naval Ship #7241, Port Jervis, a former member of Excelsior Engine Co. #5, Port Jervis Fire Dept. a member of the Port Jervis Lodge of Elks, #645, B.P.O.E. and a proud member of the Metoque Hunting Club. Joe married Alice B. Tanner on November 25, 1951, celebrating almost 70 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife Alice, at home, his sons; Timothy Pagano of Warwick and Paul Pagano and his wife Melissa of York, PA, his beloved grandchildren; Mark Pagano and his wife Lindsey, Clifford Howey, USAF, Alice Mckie and her husband Marvin, and Jason Pagano, his three great grandchildren; Grace, Sylvia and Joseph, nephew Robert Panuto and his wife Jongjing, his nieces, Susan Hogan, Candace Tidd and her husband William, his brother-in-law Edwin Mosher, his sisters-in-law Joan Wagner and MaryJane Tanner. Joe was pre-deceased by his sons; Mark and Anthony Pagano, his infant daughter Lisa Ann, his brother, James Pagano, his sister-in-law Ann Mosher and his brother-in-law John Tanner. Visitation will be held 2-6 PM, Tuesday, October 12, at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY. Elks services will be held 4 PM Tuesday. Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM, Wednesday, at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY. Rev. Joseph Manarchuck will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Jervis, NY. Arrangements are by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY.
