Ursula Grigo Obituary

Ursula Grigo passed away on May 31st , 2023 at her home in Glen Spey, New York after a long

battle with declining health. She was 89 years old.

It would be wrong to say that Ursula lost her battle with illness because she never stopped

fighting. When anyone else would have given up, Ursula stayed strong. Through her we know

what resilience and perseverance truly look like.

Ursula was born on November 12, 1933 in Germany, the daughter of Helmut and Else Arnold.

She suffered trauma early in life when her family lost everything during World War 2 and were

forced to live as displaced persons in various camps for a number of years after the fall of

Germany. In the early fifties, at the age of 18, she traveled alone from Germany to the United

States and Married Heinz Ernst Grigo on July 18 th 1951. Heinz and Ursula were blessed with two

children, Kenneth Lee Grigo and Debrelee Grigo Forbes. Together Ursula and Heinz owned and

operated a successful bakery business for many years in Philadelphia and Landsdale, PA.

Ursula was predeceased by her husband of 64 years Heinz, and by her son Kenneth. Ursula is

survived by her daughter Debralee, her daughter in law Brenda Grigo, her son in law Joseph

Forbes. Ursula was blessed with five loving grandchildren, Benjamin Grigo, Anna Grigo, Eliot

Grigo, Emma Catlyn Forbes, and Colin Blakely Forbes. Ursula is also survived by her precious

great grandson, Jamie Todd Brown.
