Thinking of my Aunt Anna, three memories come to mind. The now decades ago Summertime Parties that were in the backyard of the house they lived in.
Julio & Anna were gracious to all, as the party hosts.
There was always plenty of food to eat, and drinks.
Grandpa would make a big pot of Pasta Vajioli, or, as we would always pronounce it as, PASTA VAZOOL!!
Uncle Joe would play the Guitar, and Uncle Vito played the Violin, and if we knew the words, we sang along. Everyone there always had a real good time.
As kids, Aunt Anna took us a couple of times in the (Dodge?) Car, driving on some of the back mountain roads, to look for Salamanders. The last time we went looking for Salamanders, I was the only kid that didn't spot one, but on the way to go back home, I saw one, and we almost ran it over with the Car.
Christmas at Uncle Julio's & Aunt Anna's meant one thing for sure- they always had a live Christmas Tree in their living room, decorated with lights, colorful ornaments, and tinsel. Under the Tree sat the many wrapped gifts that Santa had brought there.
We all celebrated the day, with a toast of Eggnog.
These I will always remember well.
