Obituary of Marjorie A. Worden

Marjorie A. Worden, age 95 of Port Jervis, NY passed away July 22, 2021 in Port Jervis, one day before her 96th birthday with her loving family by her side. She was born in Port Jervis, NY on July 23, 1925. Margie was predeceased by her parents John and Helen Clarke Rowlands. Throughout her life Margie worked for various local clothing manufacturers including Little Tots, and Barbara Quilting. In her earlier years she worked for Kolmar Labs, in Port Jervis. Margie married Richard J. Worden on November 17th, 1946 at St. Mary’s R.C. Church. They were happily married and celebrated 56 years of marriage, until his passing in 2003. She is survived by her son, former Mayor R. Michael Worden and his wife Linda of Port Jervis, and her beloved grandchildren; Michael Worden and his wife Renee, William Worden and his wife Holly, Scott Worden and his companion Shylo Tavares, Melissa Pulsinelli and her husband Anthony. Margie is further survived by her beloved 10 great grandchildren; her twins, Michael and Ryan Worden, whom Margie helped to raise, Douglas Worden, Brianna Worden, Alexis Worden, Alyvia Worden, Mikayla Sobolewski, Emmalise Pulsinelli, Anthony Pulsinelli, Brennan Goin, and her granddaughter-in-law Kelly Halpin. Margie is also survived by her sister Joan Rowlands of Port Jervis, her sister-in-law Jean Worden of Port Jervis, and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her infant daughter Michelle, her sisters, Helen Oliver and Patricia Soletro, and her brother-in-law Robert Worden. Margie was a faithful and lifetime member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church in Port Jervis. She was very proud of being a Girl Scout Leader for over 25 years and she was awarded one of the highest honors In Girl Scout leadership at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. In 2020, Margie was honored to be selected as the Grand Marshall of the Port Jervis St. Patrick’s Day Parade. She thouroughly enjoyed camping with her husband and family at Keen Lake Campground in Waymart, PA for nearly 50 years. She also loved listening and dancing to the music of Engelbert Humperdinck. Margie was the matriarch of the Worden family. She was known as the “master stain remover” who seemed to be able to help her family and friends with the removal of almost any type of stubborn stain with her secret formula. Margie was also known for her famous "cure for arthritis.” She would advise taking nine golden raisins, soaked in gin, "no more than nine and no less than nine." Margie was a cancer survivor and took a courageous approach to life. She still looked forward to once a day enjoying a Coors Light in her frozen glass from the freezer. Above all, her love of her family, holiday gatherings, and spending time with all her grandchildren was most important to her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held 2-6 PM, Sunday, July 25 at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY. The vigil wake prayers will be offered at 2:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM, Monday, July 26 at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Port Jervis, NY, concelebrated by Rev. Matthew Newcomb and Rev. Dennis Dinan. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Jervis, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 46, Ball St.,Port Jervis, NY or to the Port Jervis Salvation Army, 99 Ball St., Port Jervis, NY 12771. Arrangements are by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY.
