Jean Alice Carpenter Blumer, 97, of Prospect, KY passed away peacefully at home on May 20, 2022. Jean was born in Passaic, NJ on April 14, 1925, the daughter of Josephine and William Carpenter. Jean grew up in Nutley, NJ. She married her love of 51 years, John Blumer, on October 30, 1954. They moved to Kinnelon, NJ where they raised their three girls. Subsequent moves took them to Starkville, MS, Lake St. Louis, MO and Naples, FL. Jean worked as a secretary prior to raising her family and again later at Mississippi State University 4-H Department for 10 years. She was a member and former president of the Kinnelon Garden Club and a member of St. David’s Episcopal Church Altar Guild. Jean was always ready to lend a helping hand, and was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. Jean was the best wife, mother and grandmother that anyone could ever hope to have. She was kind to everyone she met, and was loved by all. Jean is predeceased by her husband John Blumer, parents Josephine and William Carpenter and brother James Carpenter. Jean is survived by her daughters Shari Plegt (Willem) of Naples, FL, Susan Czerwonka (John) of Prospect, KY and Sandra Blumer of Naples FL, her granddaughter Meg Czerwonka of Denver, CO and her sister-in-law Miriam Carpenter of Montague, NJ. Jean will be interred with her husband John’s cremains at a private graveside service on Wednesday, May 25 at 10:45AM at the Minisink Reformed Church Cemetery in Montague, NJ. In lieu of flowers, Jean’s family respectfully requests donations be made to the charity of your choice to help make this world a better place.
