Obituary of Mary Ellen Stevens

Mary Ellen Stevens, age 76 of Matamoras, Pennsylvania passed away, Tuesday, March 1, 2022 in Edison, New Jersey. She was born on July 14, 1945 in Newark, New Jersey, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Moore Dangler. She was a graduate of Montclair State University. Mary Ellen retired after 24 years as a social worker for Child Protective Services, New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services. She was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church of Matamoras, and a life member of the Allamuchy-Green First Aid Squad in Tranquility, New Jersey. She had a deep love of family, traveling, cooking and gardening. Mary Ellen married Robert Stevens, Jr., former police chief for the Borough of Matamoras. He predeceased her on November 3, 2021. She is survived by her daughter, Ellen Allen and her husband, Dr. Patrick Allen of Boulder, Colorado, two sons; Robert Ramella of Saylorsburg, PA, and Patrick Ramella and his wife Nicole of Landing, NJ, her step-son Kyle Stevens and and his wife Theresa of Spring Lake, North Carolina, her sister, Elizabeth Lehmann of Rockaway, NJ, her beloved grandchildren; Hope, April, Chloe, Joy, James, Max and Nicole Long, her great grandchildren; Kylie, Alexa, Kaylee, Willow, Atlas, Skieler, Dylan, and Dakota, her cousin, John Held, and several nieces and nephews. Mary Ellen was also predeceased by her step-grandson, Kris Long. A combined memorial service will be held for Mary Ellen and her late husband Robert Stevens, Jr. at 12 o’clock noon, Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at the United Methodist Church in Matamoras in the Spring. Rev. Diane Sommers will officiate. Interment for both Bob and Mary Ellen will take place at the Hainesville Cemetery, Hainesville, New Jersey following the memorial service.
