Tony Pinkala age 66, of Matamoras, Pennsylvania, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022 at home. He was born on August 6, 1955 in Port Jervis, NY the son of the late Nicholas A. Pinkala and Tomiko F. Homma Pinkala. Tony retired as facility manager for Kolmar Labs, Inc, in Port Jervis. His co-workers knew Tony to be tough, but fair boss. He was deeply respected by all who worked for him as well as those he worked for. He was a member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church in Port Jervis. He attended Port Jervis High School where he was a cross country runner, making it to the state championship. In his senior year, Tony was awarded the coveted “Pound for Pound” award. As a young man Tony decided to take up boxing, and was undefeated. As he got older he became most well known for being a weight lifter with a 400lb bench. Tony married Mary Catherine Muller Pinkala, who survives at home. He is also survived by his mother Tomiko F. Pinkala of Matamoras, Pennsylvania, his two sisters; Mary Ann Schutes and her husband Willie of Port Jervis, Catherine Mitrano and her husband Nicholas of Oldsmar, Florida, his step-daughters; Christina Northrip and her companion Clarke Erb of New Windsor, NY, and Courtney Mekulik and her husband Kyle of Newburgh, his stepson BJ Northrip of Greensboro, NC, his beloved grandchildren; Riley Paige Mekulik and Asher Leigh Erb, and his nephew Jason Schutes. Anthony was pre-deceased by his sister, Ann Marie Pinkala. Visitation will be held 1-3 PM and 4-6 PM, Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY. A Mass of Resurrection will be held 10 AM Thursday, March 3, at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Port Jervis, NY. Rev Matthew Newcomb will be the celebrant. Private interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Jervis, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, P.O.
