Obituary of Roger A. VanTuyl, Sr.

Roger A. VanTuyl, Sr. age 71 of Barryville, NY passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, NY. He was born on July 19, 1950 in Pond Eddy, NY and is the son of the late Howard and Zaza Turner VanTuyl. Roger retired as a tractor trailer driver for E. Tetz and Sons in Middletown, NY. He is survived by his wife Harriet “Babe” DeGroat VanTuyl who lives at home; four sons: Roger A. VanTuyl, Jr. of Shohola, PA, Chris VanTuyl of Port Jervis, NY, Jason VanTuyl of Barryville, NY, Lance VanTuyl and wife Christinia of Eldred, NY; seven grandchildren: Justin, Christopher, Jessica, Brooke, Lindsay, Hunter, and Hayley VanTuyl; one great-grandchild Jayce Ross; one brother: Ed VanTuyl; sister-in-law: Marcie VanTuyl; sister-in-law: Joyce VanTuyl; two brother-in-laws: Freddy DeGroat and wife Diane, Harry DeGroat and wife Tammy; three sister-in-laws: Marion Konikowski and husband Bob, Susan DeMarco and husband Gerald, Connie Mandakis; best friends Daniel and Eileen Hamilton; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Roger was predeceased by two brothers Ernie and Ken VanTuyl and one grandchild Matthew VanTuyl. Visitation will be held Friday, February 4 from 2-4pm at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St. Port Jervis, NY 12771. Funeral services will follow at 4pm with Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst officiating. Cremation will take place at the convenience of the family.
