Hardev Singh Bal, 82, of Middletown, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Garnet Health Medical Center, with his loving family by his side.

Born on November 11, 1943, in Butala, Punjab, India, Hardev was the son of the late Ram Singh Bal and the late Swarn Kaur Bal.

Hardev proudly and faithfully served in the Indian Navy, where he built his career as a Marine Engineer. His service was a source of deep and lasting pride throughout his life, and the discipline, skill, and honor of his naval years remained at the heart of who he was. Those who knew him will remember him just as his family does — proud and faithful, a man of dignity and devotion.

Hardev is survived by his beloved wife, Surjit Bal; his sons, Harjit Singh Bal and his wife Satinder, and Surpreet Singh Bal; and his cherished grandson, Harkaran Singh Bal.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 2:30 PM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 East Main Street, Port Jervis, NY, where a service will be held at 3:00 PM. On Friday, August 7, 2026, a procession will form at 10:00 AM at the funeral home and proceed to the crematory.
