Harold L. Moore Obituary

Harold L. Moore entered the glorious presence of his Lord and Saviour Jesus on 27 July 2026. Born on 30 January 1924 to young Christian parents, Alexander and Helen Moore, Harold looked up to his older brother Bob as a mentor and loved his baby sister June. Built on their rock foundation, they were faithful caretakers of the gifts bestowed on them and quietly served others with dignity and strength. Harold’s last act of earthly kindness was donating his body for scientific research.

Harold’s comprehensive education in a Rio, New York one room schoolhouse propelled him to two Ivy League universities, graduating as an accomplished engineering student and obtaining his professional engineer’s license. As owners of a civil engineering and land surveying business, he and his partner were known for their honesty and hard working competence. An upright man in all his circles, Harold was loved and respected for his generosity, wit, and wise counsel, often uniquely provided without saying a word.

Drafted for active duty during his studies, Harold became a decorated World War II veteran in the 95th Infantry Division when his unit marched across Western Europe. They valiantly fought for the liberation of the city of Metz, France in 1944. Their courageous and resolute action led their adversaries to call them the “Iron Men of Metz”. Harold gained a grateful heart for a lifetime as many of his buddies gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Once upon a time, the inimitable love story of Harold and Freda Moore created a team where dreaming, discipline, and lifelong learning blooms in brilliant colors. Harold and Freda, his beautiful bride, enjoyed the blessings of 5 children and their spouses, 10 grandchildren and spouses, and 7 great grandchildren in their 72 year adventure. Their family and many loyal friends counted on the sweet harmony of his rock steady faithfulness and humility and her unwavering zest for learning and encouragement. Ever the competitor, Freda beat Harold when she reached her finish line in 2024.

Together they pointed us to Jesus; together we stand in wonder at the countless blessings showered on and through this fruitful pair. We rejoice in Harold’s and Freda’s eternal positive impact and herald Jesus’ return when, through God’s grace, we can be united in Him.

We will exalt the Lord, for in perfect faithfulness, He has done marvelous things, things planned long ago.
