I learned from Andrew’s sister, Sherri, on Sunday June 7th that he had fallen seriously ill and was in the hospital and, sadly, he passed away the following Friday.
I remember Andrew as a happy and cheerful kid with a lot of energy growing up. When he got older he always had a book going. He had a fascination with Marilyn Monroe (as many do) and read a biography of her. The last time I saw him was many years ago when he was in Maine visiting around Thanksgiving. Pumpkin pie was one of his favorites and there were two there in which we both indulged.
Although this is a tragedy for the family and everyone that knew and loved Andrew, his generous gift of life he gave through his organ donation speaks to who he was and makes him a true hero.
I will always remember Andrew as kind, personable and a true hero.
