Alberta Euricka Glinton Bobo Obituary

Alberta Glinton Bobo was born on February 6, 1956, in Port Jervis, New York, to the late Albert Glinton, Jr. and Roberta Pendleton Glinton.

At an early age, Alberta accepted Christ into her life and remained a devoted, lifelong member of Wickham Methodist Church, Inc., where her faith was a cornerstone of her life.

Alberta graduated from Port Jervis High School in 1974. She was an outstanding student who excelled both academically and athletically. During her time there, she served as Sophomore Class President and was an active member of the Student Council, the Girls Athletic Association and  the Captain of the Girls Drill Team. She was a dedicated athlete, playing on the first girls’ basketball team, participating in track and field, cross country, and relay teams, where she set several records. In addition, she was involved in numerous sports and after-school activities.

Following graduation, Alberta earned several scholarships and attended SUNY Orange County Community College in Middletown, New York, and later SUNY New Paltz in Ulster County. Before completing her college education, she joined the United States Army. Alberta went on to serve her country with honor and distinction for over 30 years, retiring as a Staff Sergeant. For 21 years of her military service, she worked as a dedicated Army nurse, caring for others with compassion and commitment.

During her military career, Alberta met and married her beloved husband, David M. Bobo. Together, they shared more than 40 years of marriage. They were blessed with one son, Prince Cantrell Moshe Bobo, and an adopted daughter, Deja Euricka Bobo, who both reside in Memphis, Tennessee.

Alberta leaves to cherish her memory her brother, Frank Glinton of Las Vegas, Nevada; her sisters, Gwendolyn Glinton of Port Jervis, New York, and Teresa Glinton and Avis Glinton of Broomfield, Colorado; her nephews, Cameron Glinton, Clayton Glinton, Curt Glinton, and Nilus Williams; and her nieces, Shadia Glinton, Doris Glinton, Sheila Minus Glinton, and her sister-in-law, Ida Minus Glinton. She also leaves her great-niece, Evelyn Gray Glinton. She was predeceased by her brother, Clifford Minus Glinton.

Additionally, Alberta leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, cherished members of her military family, classmates, and many dear friends.

In 2024, Alberta had the joy of celebrating the 50th anniversary of her graduating class with her fellow classmates in Port Jervis—a moment she deeply cherished.

Alberta’s life was defined by her unwavering faith, her dedication to service, her loyalty to family and friends, and her boundless love. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her and will be remembered, cherished, and celebrated forever.
