Ida M. Harden, of Port Jervis, NY, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026 at her home. She was 78 years old.

The daughter of the late Vernard Counterman and Anna Decker Counterman, she was born on March 19, 1948 in Dover, NJ. She married the love of her life, the late Gerald A. Harden.

Ida was a devoted homemaker who dedicated her life to caring for her family and community. She generously volunteered her time with Meals on Wheels, finding joy in helping others.

A beloved matriarch, Ida was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose family was the center of her life. She enjoyed crocheting and crossword puzzles, and will be remembered always for her warmth, generosity, and the love she poured into every member of her family.

Ida is survived by her loving children: Jennifer Panasiuk, Arthur Harden and his wife Caroline, Elizabeth Cross and her husband Robert, Vernard Harden and his wife Denise, Gerald Harden and his wife Mae and Mae Elizabeth Harden, her granddaughter whom she raised and cherished as a daughter.  Her adored grandchildren: Justin Hopler, Stephanie Panasiuk, Tammy Finch, Walter Finch Jr., Zachary Cross, Nicholas Cross, Heidi Cross, Heather Cross, Jesse Harden, Michael Kowinsky Jr., Gerald Harden III and Chyanne Harden. She was also a beloved great-grandmother to her great-grandchildren.

Ida was predeceased by her husband, Gerald A. Harden; her daughter, Cynthia Harden; her grandson, Jason Finch; and her grandson, Alexander Hopler.

A private family visitation will be held. A graveside service will take place at 12 noon on April 28, 2026 at Hainesville Cemetery, Hainesville, NJ, where she will be laid to rest.
