Kathleen Southers Decker
Kathy died at Good Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born on Dec. 9,1945 in MIddletown ,Ny to Jack and Betty Southers. She attended Port Jervis High School. She married Oliver "Obie" Decker on Jan. 6, 1961. They were married for 57 years. He predeceased her in 2018. She missed him every single day.
Kathy was a self proclaimed "homebody'. She loved her home, her yard and her pets,including several strays that she took in over the years , as well as several wild creatures that she nursed back to health.She did have some travel adventures in her later years, including a cruise to ALaska and whale watching off Cape Cod. She also enjoyed spending time at the ocean.
She is survived by her 4 daughters; Kim Gallo and her husband Joe, Jill Hosking and her husband Dan, Jody Scholz and Holly Schure, her grandchildren: William Miller, Megan Cassidy and her husband John, J.D. Gallo and his wife Michelle, Oliver Gallo, Max Gallo, Willi Scholz and his partner Clara,Dakota Schure and his partner Elaina and Hunter Schure, as well as 10 great grandchildren. She is further survived by her sisters Diane Predmore and her husband Richard, Cindy Ellison and her husband Jim, Sherill Galanakis, her brother Roger and his husband Mike, In laws Mary and Jim Cuddy,Gloria Corey, Winnie Case and Ann Decker, many nieces and nephews, as well as her good friend Peggy Philips. She was predeceased by her parents, Jack Southers and Betty and Dick Savannah, her son in law Willi Scholz, her granddaughter Katie Noel Decker, great grandson Billy Miller and several brother and sisters in law.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Port Jervis/Deerpark humane society in Kathy's honor.
Final committal will take place privately at Rural Valley Cemetery, Cuddebackville as per Kathy's wishes.
