Mary T. Giovanniello, of Port Jervis NY, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026 at St. Joseph’s Place in Port Jervis, NY. She was 99 years old.

The daughter of the late Domenico Centrone and Anna Avitto Centrone, she was born on July 16, 1926 in Brooklyn NY. She married the love of her life, the late Isidore A. Giovanniello, on April 27, 1947 in Brooklyn NY. In 1954 Mary and Isidore relocated upstate to Port Jervis to raise their family.

In addition to raising her family, Mary worked as a seamstress for various clothing factories in Port Jervis from the mid 1950’s to the late 1970’s. She and Isidore were also faithful members of St. Mary’s RC Church in Port Jervis.

Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt who enjoyed traveling, baking, sewing, babysitting, playing Canasta and sharing stories with her family about her earlier years in Brooklyn. She will be remembered always for her strength, wisdom, and positive outlook on life.

Mary is survived by her 3 loving children: Rocco Giovanniello and his wife AnnMarie of Port Jervis, Dominic Giovanniello and his wife Jill of Matamoras PA, and Anna Drapala of Port Jervis.  10 Grandchildren: Rob Kendall, Mary Kendall and her partner Anthony, Gina Kowal and her husband Joe, Krissy McMenemy and her husband Jim, Lana Van De Mark and her husband Lee, Tina Drapala, Steven Drapala and his partner Erica, Suzanne Drapala, Alexina Hardy and her husband Justin, and Angela Giovanniello and her partner David.  14 Great-Grandchildren: Matthew and his wife Casey, Ryan and his wife Emily, Kevin, Jenna, Mia, Preston, Landon, Ryder, Paris, Peyton, Mckenna, Audriana, Skyler, and Liam.  Sister: Antonia “Netta” Helzer of Fresno, CA.  Fond mother in law of Duane Kendall Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Mary was also predeceased by her daughter, Elizabeth Kendall, sister Rose Caputo, brothers Leonard Centrone, Johnny Centrone I, Johnny Centrone II, and son-in-law Steve Drapala.

A visitation will take place Tuesday, April 21 from 4-7pm at the Knight Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 East Main St. Port Jervis, NY 12771. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 22 at 11:30AM at the funeral home, the family will also receive guests from 11AM prior to services.  Following the service, a burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Jervis.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at St. Joseph’s Place for the ongoing care they provided to Mary during her stay and her peaceful transition into the Lord’s Kingdom.
