Joseph B. Campbell of Matamoras died peacefully at home on February 15, 2026. He was 92 years old.
The son of the late Virginia and George Campbell Sr, he was born on April 6, 1933 in Port Jervis, NY.
Joe graduated from Delaware Valley High School in 1952. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Army. Upon returning home, he continued his education at Pennsylvania State University, earning his bachelor’s degree, and later received his master’s degree in Education & Administration from the University of Scranton.
Joe dedicated his professional life to working with and supporting young people. He began at the Otisville State Training School for Boys as a Juvenile Supervisor, later serving the Delaware Valley School District as a Truant Officer and eventually Supervisor of Transportation. He went on to High Point Regional High School, where he wore many hats, including Supervisor of Transportation. Joe later joined the Mid-Hudson Psychiatric Center in the recreation department, where he worked faithfully until his retirement.
He was a longtime past member of the Westfall Fire Department and took pride in serving his community. Joe and his beloved wife, Jean, cherished the many trips and travels they enjoyed together. Above all, he was a deeply devoted father to his daughter, Cindy.
In addition to his parents Joe was predeceased in life by his son John Joseph Campbell, brothers George & Gustav Campbell and stepbrother Francis Maillet.
Beloved husband of Jean M. Campbell. Cherished father of Cindy Jean Campbell. Joe was an uncle and great uncle who will be missed.
