Elizabeth "Betty Ann" Dantonio Obituary

Elizabeth “Betty Ann" Dantonio, affectionately known as Betty or Betty Ann, passed on January 1, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength and generosity.  She was 81 years old.

Born on February 28, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York, Betty Ann built her life there, raising her two daughters, Deborah and Donna, where she worked at Sea Crest Healthcare Center. After retiring from there she continued her career at Crystal Run Healthcare, moving to Matamoras, Pennsylvania, so she could be closer to the people who mattered most to her, her family.

Betty was fiercely independent, hard-working, and stronger than most people ever realized. She had a toughness about her, but beneath it was the biggest heart. She was known for giving without hesitation, it didn't matter if it was her last dollar, or the shirt off her back, saying "God will provide."

From a young age, being “the mom” came naturally to her, and she carried that role throughout her life—not just for her family, but for everyone she loved. Her role as a caregiver began early in life, as a child, after the loss of her mother, when she helped raise her younger siblings. Betty Ann's greatest joy in life was her family. She loved being surrounded by them, doing for them, and making sure everyone was taken care of.

Betty Ann was preceded in death by her siblings Nancy Dantonio, Cosimo Dantonio and Gladys Guarino.

Devoted mother of Deborah Giovanniello (Vincent) and Donna Bermudez (John).   Beloved grandmother of Gina McDonald (Michael) Vincent Giovanniello III (Jamie), Nancy Lindell (Daniel), Samantha Syed (Hassan),  Rocco Giovanniello (Sarah), Austin Bermudez (Ashlie) and Christopher Bermudez.  Adoring great grandmother of Damon, Vincent IV, Isabella, Liam and Colin with one more on the way. Dear sister of Joseph Dantonio (life partner Gina) and their son Joseph.  Former husband, father of her children and lifelong friend Richard Entler.  Betty Ann was an aunt and great aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.  Her family is a reflection of a growing legacy that reflects the love she gave so freely.

Elizabeth “Betty Ann” Dantonio will be remembered for her strength, her generosity, her resilience, and her unmatched devotion to family. Her love lives on in every life she touched.

A memorial visitation will take place on Friday 1/9 from 2 to 4:30PM at Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home 154 East Main Street, Port Jervis, NY 12771.  At 4:30PM a prayer service with family reflections will take place.
