Jeffrey M. Wehinger died unexpectedly on January 1, 2026 in Westfall, PA. He was 53 years old.
The son of Jean E. and the late John A. Wehinger, he was born on June 8, 1972 in Port Jervis, NY.
Jeffrey devoted much of his life to the outdoors and to service. For many years, he worked as a Maintenance Worker at High Point State Park, a place that truly became his second home. His dedication went far beyond his job description; even after hours, Jeffrey could be found volunteering his time at the park, where he was a constant presence and a familiar face to all who knew the grounds. In recognition of his unwavering commitment, he was honored as Volunteer of the Year by High Point State Park, an achievement he held with quiet pride.
A lifelong lover of wildlife, Jeffrey also volunteered extensively with New Jersey Fish & Wildlife, assisting with important studies and conservation projects, including tagging bears and monitoring the fisher population. His passion for the natural world knew no schedule, he was often in the woods well before dawn, sometimes as early as 3:00 a.m., doing the work he loved. Being outdoors wasn’t just a hobby for Jeffrey; it was his way of life.
Jeffrey was also a lifetime honorary member of Engine 5 in Port Jervis, New York. Known as a simple man with a kind heart, he seemed to know everyone and was known by many in return. His quiet dedication, love of nature, and willingness to serve left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In addition to his father Jeffrey was predeceased in life by his sister Denise Wehinger.
Beloved son of Jean E. Wehinger. Devoted sister Dina Allen with her husband Randy. Cherished uncle of Justin and Corey Allen. Jeff leaves behind numerous cousins who loved him as he did them.
