Masako H. Smith Obituary

Masako Hashizume Smith of Greenville died peacefully at home on November 11, 2025.  She was 96 years old. 


The daughter of the late George and Kimi Hashizume, she was born on July 25, 1929 in Ventnor City, NJ. 


Masako earned her Doctorate degree and dedicated her career to education, teaching generations of students before retiring from the Hawthorne Public School System. In retirement, she and her husband Milton pursued their shared passions for adventure: Masako, an accomplished pilot, and Milton together embraced the thrill of flying, while they raced with the NEMA North East Midget Association, the two of them chasing speed and sky from track to track.


Beloved wife of the late Milton Smith.  Dear mother of George Sherwood Smith along with his wife Iris and Betsy Andus Smith.  Grandmother of Milton Smith his wife Nathalie, Sasha McGarvey her husband Otto Muller and Danielle Delia.  Great grandmother of Trevor, Emmett and Bayard.
