Joan M. Pauley of Port Jervis passed away on October 29, 2025 after a courageous three year battle with cancer.  She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by love.  She was 74 years old.  

The daughter of the late Norma and Charles L. Schroeder Sr, she was born on August 15, 1951 in Callicoon, NY.  

Joanie's life was filled with Faith, Family, and Friends.  She had a long career with the New York State Department of Corrections, retiring as an Inmate Records Coordinator. She left a lasting impact on colleagues and the system she served. 

A lifelong member of the Eldred Congregational Church, Joanie’s deep faith was the foundation of her character, inspiring those around her with quiet strength and unwavering kindness. Her commitment to fellowship and service extended through decades of active involvement in many community organizations including The Order of the Eastern Stars, Fidelis Triangles, Order of Amaranth, Red Hats, HLFD Auxiliary, American Legion and Puppies Behind Bars.

Joanie had a youthful zest for life.  She delighted in animals, camping,  jigsaw puzzles, crocheting, relaxing at the beach with B, and gathering with loved ones. She was always up for watching Perry Mason with her good friend Alice, playing games, especially Skip-Bo and of course, ice cream.   A gifted seamstress, Joanie crafted beauty with her hands, creating keepsakes that warmed both homes and hearts.

In addition to her parents Joanie was predeceased in life by her brother Charles "Skip" Schroeder Jr.  

Beloved wife of Grant Pauley.  Devoted mother of Candy Bott with her husband Steve of Eldred and Rene Beers with her husband Mike of Port Jervis.  Dear sister of Alan Schroeder (Dolores).  Fond sister in law of Rosalind Schroeder.  Cherished grandmother of Regina Tyler (Zak), Jeremy Davies (Elida), Zachary Davies, Amanda Beers, Kate Wheeler (John) and Zachary Beers (Isabel).  Great grandmother of Jace, Ben, Taylor, Liam, Hunter, McKenna, Luna, Hailey, Vincent, Santiago and Thomas.    Joanie will be greatly missed by her brothers and sisters in law and her numerous nieces and nephews.  

A visitation will take place on Monday 11/3 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:00PM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home 154 East Main Street, Port Jervis.  The family will receive guests on Tuesday from 10:30AM to 11:00AM at the Funeral Home, where services will commence at 11:00AM, the Rev. Sue Storms officiating.  Following services burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Port Jervis.
