John A. Anderson a lifelong resident of the area died peacefully at home surrounded by his family, on October 9, 2025.  He was 84 years old. 

The son of  the late George and Emma Anderson, he was born on September 16, 1941 in Greenville, NY. 

John lived a life of steadfast commitment to his work, community, and passions. He dedicated his career to Kolmar Labs, where he worked until his retirement.  A proud and active member of his community, John was a longtime member of the Buckhorn Hunting Club in Greenville, where he shared his love for the outdoors. His faith guided him as a devoted member of the Sparrowbush United Methodist Church. As a charter member of the Greenville Waywayanda Lions Club, he contributed to local service initiatives. John’s commitment to service extended to his role as a member of the Greenville Volunteer Fire Department, where he served his community.  

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased in life by his first wife Joan Anderson and siblings Joseph, Frederick, Raymond Anderson and Mary Binder. 

Beloved husband of Patricia J. Anderson.  Devoted father of George J. Anderson with his wife Tina.  Fond stepfather of Arthur "Joe" Aumick his wife Trisha and Dean Aumick with his wife Kathy.  Cherished grandfather of Adrianna Anderson, Jessica Tidd (Adam), Jacob Anderson, Matthew Aumick, Patrick Aumick, Alexander Aumick and Andrew Aumick.  

A visitation will take place on Sunday 10/19 from 5:00 to 7:00PM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home 154 East Main Street, Port Jervis NY 12771.  The family will receive guests on Monday 10/20 from 10:30AM to 11:00AM with Funeral Services commencing 11:00M at the Funeral Home.  Rev. Amy Garrett officiating.  Following services burial will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush. 

In lieu of flowers the family requested donations may be made to the Sparrowbush United Methodist Church or United Hospice in John's memory.
