Russell J. Von Sauers Jr a lifetime resident of the area passed away on October 6, 2025 at Garnett Medical Center.  He was 81 years old. 

The son of the late Ruth and Russell J. Von Sauers Sr, he was born on August 8, 1944 in Port Jervis, NY. 

Russell lived a life rich with creativity, service, and dedication. A 1963 graduate of Port Jervis High School, he pursued his passion for art at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where he honed his skills and earned his degree. Following his education, Russell served his country with honor in the U.S. Army. Upon returning home, he built a successful career as a freelance illustrator, operating his own business, Graphic Automobile. His distinctive work graced the pages of renowned publications such as Reader’s Digest, Hemmings Motor News, Popular Mechanics, Car & Driver, Special Interest Autos, and Popular Science, earning him recognition in the automotive and illustration communities. A lifelong member of the Neversink Volunteer Fire Department Engine #1, Russell’s commitment to his community was unwavering, reflecting his deep sense of duty and connection to Port Jervis.

Devoted father of Susan Muller (Matthew Tesone) and Tracey Dean (Kenneth Niemeyer).  Cherished grandfather of Jessica Muller - Eyth (Kyle), Jennifer Muller, Jordan Muller and Hunter Dean.  Dear brother of Karen Von Sauers (Marcella Pavelka).  Fond former wife and mother to his children Sally Von Sauers.  

A private committal will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush.
