It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Linda Bohs of Eldred, NY at the age of 73. Linda was surrounded by her family as she was called home to be with the Lord on August 27, 2025 at Montefiore Einstein Medical Center in Bronx, NY. She was born in Callicoon, NY on January 11th, 1952 to the late Stella A. Clark Leavenworth and Sherman Clinton (Goldie) Leavenworth and was predeceased by infant brother, Frederick Sherman Clinton Leavenworth. She was a retired Executive Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent and District Clerk of the Eldred Central School District for 36 years and served on the Board of Education for 10 years after retirement.
Answering her call to God, Linda also served as minister of the Eldred United Methodist Church for 23 years where she was also a member since 1964. Linda simultaneously served the Narrowsburg United Methodist Church for 15 years and loved the Lord with all her heart. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, & friend. Her sense of humor was unmatched, her laugh infectious, and her hugs never-ending.
Before her retirement, she was a member of the NYS Office Professionals, the National Office Professionals, and the Greater New Jersey and New York Annual Conferences of Local Pastors. She was a member of Sullivan County Volunteer Literacy ESL/Basic Literacy Tutors, Sullivan County Sign Language, the National Arbor Association, the Town of Highland Lions’ Club, the New York State and National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty, and a life-time member of the Eldred Central School District PTSO and established the Highland/Lumberland Township Choir. Linda has been an active member of the American Center for Law and Justice for many years. She fostered many local Ecumenical Special Services and functions. Linda was dedicated to her faith and her churches as well as her family and her community. She will be greatly missed by many.
Linda is survived by her husband and best friend of 50 years, Norman and their two daughters, Patricia Bohs-Pass of Clifford Township, Pa. and her husband, Trevor; and Ashley Bohs–Ozdemir and her husband Oguz of Lindenhurst. She is also survived by 6 beautiful grandchildren: Noah, Paige Lin, & Anna Pass; and Hezekiah, Ibrahim, and Isaiah Ozdemir.
Visitation will take place on Friday September 5th from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home in Port Jervis, NY. Funeral services at Knight Auchmoody Funeral Home on Saturday September 6th at 10:30 a.m. with Linda’s dear friend, Reverend Nancy Vonderhorst officiating. Burial to follow at Montoza Cemetery in Eldred. Friends are invited to a celebration of life luncheon with the family after.
Flowers may be ordered through Laurel Grove Florist and Greenhouses in Port Jervis, NY or in lieu of flowers, monetary contributions to the Linda Bohs Memorial Scholarship may be sent to the Eldred Central School District care of the “business office”.
