Evelyn A. “Sis” Stryker (nee Henderson) of Matamoras, PA, aged 83 years, on July 19, 2025.

She spent her childhood in Prince’s Bay, Staten Island, NY, and moved to Tottenville after her marriage. For many years she worked in the Sears Roebuck store at the Staten Island Mall. In 1996 Evelyn and her husband Walter moved to Port Jervis, NY and eventually Matamoras. They were active members of Drew United Methodist Church where Evelyn was a long time member of “The Knit-whits” knitting and sewing group.

She is survived by her son Walter Jr and his partner Lenny, son Keith and his wife Leslye, son Curtis and his wife Wendy, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, her sister Joan Mallia, brother James Jr. and his wife Eilene, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Walter H. Stryker, parents James  Henderson and Evelyn (Petersen) Henderson, and a sister Susan Voumallis.  

A visitation will be at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home 154 East Main Street Port Jervis NY 12771, Thursday, July 24 from 10:30 to 11:30am. Funeral service 11:30am at Knight -Auchmoody Funeral Home.  The burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush.
