Edward L. Murphy Sr. Obituary

Edward L. Murphy Sr. of Huguenot died at home on July 14, 2025, he was 82 years old.  


The son of the late Earl and Gladys Martin, he was born on September 23, 1942 in Hamburg, NJ.


Ed was a man who defined himself through hard work and helping others. For years, he served his  as a dedicated driver and sanitation worker with Area Refuse in Greenville, finally retiring at 72 to enjoy time with his beloved wife Susan – only to lose her far too soon. True to his nature, Ed kept working through his grief, tackling tree removal jobs with Cheap Trees until age 78, when his body finally said "enough."  


More than just a tireless worker, Ed was a social butterfly who collected friends everywhere he went. Known for his bottomless generosity, he'd literally give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Whether hauling trash, removing trees, or sharing laughs around town, Ed left his mark through countless small acts of kindness that added up to those who knew him.  


In addition to his parents Ed was predeceased in life by his wife Susan Murphy, sons Edward L. Murphy Jr & John Murphy, son in law Joseph Conklin, his sister Barbara Krowl and brother Gary Krowl.  


Beloved father of Melissa Conklin, Kevin E. Murphy (Dorothy Brown) and Christian A. Murphy (Amy).  Dear brother of Diane Bensley, Shirley "Carley" Murphy, Sonny Murphy and Deacon Scotty Weeks.  Grandfather of 21, great grandfather of 35 and great great grandfather of 6.  


A visitation will take place on Wednesday from 1 to 3:30PM at the Knight - Auchmoody Funeral Home 154 East Main Street, Port Jervis, NY.  Family reflections will be 3:30PM at the funeral home.  Following services a private cremation will take place.
