Judith “Judy” Ann Bauer (MacAlarney), 82, of Matamoras, PA, passed away on July 8, 2025, at Delaware Valley Assisted Living, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on August 16, 1942, in Port Jervis, NY, Judy was the daughter of the late Bernard and Winifred MacAlarney. A graduate of Port Jervis High School, she was known for her school spirit and served as captain of the cheerleading team.
Judy dedicated many years to the Delaware Valley School District, working as a beloved teacher’s aide in the elementary school. She brought kindness, warmth, and humor to the classroom and had a special gift for making children feel seen and loved.
With a sparkling personality and a spunky sense of humor, Judy brought warmth to every room. She had a passion for music — especially Simply Red — and a deep love for classic movies. She adored animals and was a devoted dog mom. A generous soul, she supported the Humane Society and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with monthly donations.
She had a fondness for life’s simple pleasures — sweets, butter, salt, and a cold Coca-Cola — and she made holidays, especially Christmas, truly magical. Being a grandmother was the greatest joy of her life, and her family was everything to her.
In her final years, Judy was lovingly cared for at Delaware Valley Assisted Living, where the staff became like a second family. Their kindness, compassion, and connection meant the world to Judy and her loved ones.
Her legacy lives on in the laughter, love, and generosity she gave so freely. Judy will be remembered always for her nurturing heart, vibrant spirit, and the deep bond she shared with her family.
She was a devoted wife to Duane “Buz” Bauer, her beloved husband of 65 years. Though he preceded her in death, their lasting love was a defining part of her life. Judy was also preceded in death by her daughter, Jody Williamson, and survived Jody’s husband, Robert Williamson. In addition to she was predeceased by her siblings, which her sisters were her best friends, Winifred Higgins, Bernice Markle, Audrey Selneck, and John MacAlarney.
She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter Becky Stewart and her husband, Eric Stewart. Judy was a deeply cherished mother to her daughter’s. She was also a beloved grandmother to her granddaughter, Sabrina Pirl, and Sabrina’s husband, Austin Pirl. Nothing made her happier than being called ‘Nonnie’. Her heart swelled with joy as a great-grandmother to her great grandson Sawyer Pirl, who brought light and happiness to her final chapter. Cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service with immediate family will take place at Quarry Hill Cemetery, Rio as Judy wished.
