Uncle Reid,
It's hard to believe your gone, but to a better place. I'll always cherish all the fun times we had when we were kids! Sleigh riding, taking pictures and movies of us kids. One particular memory was at Art Clarke's barbecue, and you took me for the very first time for a ride on one of their motorcycles.
I will keep the rest of my memories close to my heart.
Love Judi

Uncle Reid, I still can’t believe that you’re gone. Once I heard the news that you passed, all these childhood memories came rushing back to me. I remember all the canoe trips down the Delaware river in that green Canoe that had more patches that you can count lol, or you teaching me how to shoot a 22, or those chicken barbecue is at the rod and gun club, as well as the Hoffman family reunions at High Point, and all those Thanksgiving dinners at Elmer‘s family restaurant or the Jolly Onion inn. and who can forget those late night games of captain video. I might just buy one to have in your memory. You were always good to me and always treated me with kindness and respect. You will forever be missed by many. You are now in the safest hands of all in the most glorious place of all. RIP Uncle Reid

Generosity, altruism, selflessness, and kindness were traits that are most often associated with memories of you. Recalling before leaving for the Army we talked and you provided invaluable advice from your days in the Air Force. Your counsel was always appreciated and you were appreciated and shall be missed by all who knew you.

Q: What will you never forget about Reid?
A: Every Thanksgiving and summer, our visits to Uncle Reid’s were a highlight of my childhood. The memories are endless, but it’s the little moments that stand out. Like the many times I rode on the handlebars of his bicycle to sneak off to the Polar Bear for an ice cream cone. Or those rafting trips, where we laughed so hard I cried.
And then there were the family traditions, like Thanksgiving dinners at Elmer’s restaurant. They may have seemed ordinary to others, but to me, they were so important —because all of my family was there.
I carry Uncle Reid's laugh with me, his stories, and his quirky spirit. I will miss you, Uncle Reid. Thank you for every memory. Thank you for every smile.

He took us cousins on fun adventures, like riding in the bed of his green pick-up truck up a winding mountain road for a tubing trip down the river. None of us will forget when one cousin whose rear-end was burnt when he fell through a rusted-out portion of the bed and onto the hot muffler. Also, we explored a cave that day and with Uncle Reid leading the way until, in the dark, he stepped on somebody’s number 2 with his barefoot. He also took us shooting countless times and packed all the ammunition himself. One time, my Dad shot a 357 into the wind and Uncle Reid had overpacked the round, resulting in my Dad’s eyebrows being singed, as the flame from the muzzle flash blew back over the gun into Dad’s face. I still have my cherished mouser M1903 Springfield Riffle Uncle Reid gave me. I am still grateful that he allowed us to play with his beloved Captain Video Board game even though it seemed everytime we played one of us loss a piece of the game. Anybody would have been lucky to have an Uncle Reid in their family. When I was very young and he visited our home a few times, I remember being very excited to see him pull-up in his Volkswagen Bug. Despite my career as an Army Air Defense Officer and almost two decades total in the Pentagon, Uncle Reid always had things to teach me about UFOs of which I had no idea. He knew of technology and secrets that nobody in the Pentagon was allowed to know. As interesting as he was, he was always good to us and I know my Dad loved his little brother for sure. I am very that he is gone and there will be no new fun stories. All of us will have to make do with what he provided us. Unfortunately, with his passing, it will be hard to convince others with whom we share our stories that they are true, because uncle Reid was truly one of a kind, and you had to meet him to understand.

First met Reid on a traffic stop 30 or so years ago, and we talked for 20 minutes. Shortly after learned he was a relative through marriage, and we had had so many interesting conversations come after that initial conversation. Reid will be missed.
