Edelmiro Cruz of Cuddebackville died peacefully at home on April 19, 2025 with his family by his side. He was 85 years old.
The son of the late Francesca and Edelmiro Cruz Lopez, he was born on January 17, 1940 in Juncos, Puerto Rico.
A graduate of Aviation High School in Manhattan, New York, his passion for aviation led him to serve his country as an Aircraft Mechanic in the U.S. Air Force. After his honorable military service, he continued his career at Pan Am Airlines, where his skill and dedication kept countless flights soaring safely through the skies.
Beyond his professional achievements, Edelmiro was a man of deep faith and unwavering kindness. A devoted member of Calvary Bible Church, he served faithfully as a deacon and lent his voice to the church choir, sharing his love for worship with the congregation. Those who knew him will remember his joyful spirit—always ready to drop what he was doing to help a friend, neighbor, or stranger in need.
Above all he cherished his family. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who found his greatest joy in spending time with his grandchildren, leaving them with a legacy of love, laughter, and steadfast faith.
Beloved husband of Joan Cruz. Devoted father of Manny Cruz with his wife Ling, Joan Cruz and David Cruz with his wife Peggy. Dear brother of Francis Cruz and Mary Ramos. Cherished grandfather of seven and great grandfather of seven.
