Obituary of Robert G. Monroe, Jr.

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Robert G. Monroe, Jr. a longtime resident of the area died on March 30, 2025, suddenly at Bon Secours Community Hospital.  He was 64 years old.

The son of the late Ida and Robert G. Monroe, Sr. He was born on April 28, 1960 in Yonkers, NY.

Rob lived life on the open road—both as a dedicated truck driver, hauling freight for Red Star, Yellow Freight, and New Penn, and as a free spirit who loved the rumble of his motorcycle and the music of the Grateful Dead. A man who never missed a chance to share a good joke or a tall tale, especially when reminiscing with his brothers and sisters about their wild childhood escapades. Those stories, told and retold at family gatherings, never lost their magic—or their ability to crack everyone up.

Rob lived with a rebel’s heart and a loyal soul, finding joy in the wind on his face, the hum of the highway, and the company of those he loved. His memory rides on in the stories, the music, and the laughter he leaves behind.

In addition to his parents Rob was predeceased in life by his sister Judy Marra.

Beloved husband of Cindy Monroe at home.  Cherished father of Kayla Lucas with her husband Brett and Robert G. Monroe III.  Dear brother of Anita her husband Larry, Suzanne her husband Jon, Charlie his wife Christine, Tony his wife Lee and Pete his wife Debi.  Fond uncle of Angie, Lisa, Jesse, Teresa, Tony Jr, Mike, Peter Jr, Patricia and Nicole.  He was a beloved cousin who will be missed.  Cindy wishes to acknowledge all of Rob's friends at Red Star, New Penn (Yellow) and down at the Erie who were a special part of his life.

A memorial will take place in April, please contact Cindy for details.

In lieu of flowers the family requested donations be made to the Humane Society of Port Jervis/Deerpark, 202 Route 209, Port Jervis, NY 12771 or the Precious Paws & Friends, 117 Marcel Drive, Dingmans Ferry, PA 18328.
