Helen M. Redmond a longtime resident of the area, died peacefully on February 16, 2025. She was 89 years old.
The daughter of the late Frank and Anna Lauterborn, she was born on October 28, 1935, in New York, New York.
Helen Redmond, was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was the heart of her home, a guiding light whose kindness and wisdom shaped generations. Helen’s love knew no bounds—she found her greatest joy in caring for those she cherished, always putting family first with warmth and grace.
She created a deep and unbreakable bond among her loved ones, teaching them the true meaning of family, love, and togetherness. Because of her, they share a connection built on kindness, support, and an enduring sense of belonging. Her absence leaves an immeasurable void, but the love she nurtured will continue to hold her family together, just as she always did. Though she is no longer physically with us, her spirit will forever live in the hearts of those who were blessed to know and love her.
In addition to her parents Helen was predeceased in life by Thomas W. Redmond, and her siblings: Joseph Lauterborn, Thomas Lauterborn, Charles Lauterborn, Catherine Sroka, and Virginia LaFauci.
Beloved mother of Thomas Redmond (Carol), Robert Redmond (Shauncie), Barbara O'Donnell (William), Joan Vernooy (David), Joseph Redmond (Kathy), John Redmond (Joanne), and James Redmond. Cherished grandmother of 18 and great grandmother of 25. She is also survived by her dear brother, James Lauterborn (Joan), as well as many cherished nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Park Manor Nursing Home for the care and attention Helen received at the end of her life.
A visitation will be held on Saturday 2/22 from 10:00AM to 12:15PM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1:00PM at Holy Name of Jesus RC Church, Otisville. Following the Mass a private cremation will take place. Final Committal will be in the family plot of St. Raymond’s Cemetery, Bronx NY.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital.
