Obituary of James L. Knight

James  L. Knight passed away February 6, 2025, at Belle Reve, Milford, PA, with his family by his side.

Born October 27, 1935, to George and Helen Knight, he grew up in Pond Eddy, N.Y., right along the beautiful Delaware River. He graduated from Eldred High School. After graduating, he enlisted in the Air Force. He was proud to serve his country. He was a lifetime member of VFW #161, where he served as Captain for many years. He also was a member of the American Legion. He was a member of the Pond Eddy Methodist Church.

Jim married the love of his life, Marlene Joergle. They raised their family in the West End area of Port Jervis, where everyone was friends.

Jim worked for Agway in Port Jervis, then continued with Agway in Elizabethtown, PA, until he retired.

He is survived by his daughter Susan Brown (Leonard), his son Richard (Donna), granddaughter Kristina Bodmerkel (D.J.), and great-grandson Colton. He is also survived by his extended family, granddaughters Lisa Waiau (Shane), Heather Quinn (Jeff), and Amanda Kranik (Scott). His great-grandchildren: Marcus, Derek, Meagan, Colin, Brianna, Katrina, and William.

He was predeceased by his wife Marlene, brothers George and Ross, and great-grandson Steven Quinn.

A visitation will take place on Thursday 2/13 from 2 to 6:00PM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home.  A funeral service will take place on Friday 11:30AM at the Funeral Home, The Rev. Zachary Pearce officiating.  The family will receive guests Friday from 10:30AM to 11:30AM prior to services.  The final committal will be private and at the convenience of the family.  

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to contribute to the CFOS Steven Quinn Memorial Foundation, 1373 Rt 42, Sparrowbush, N.Y. 12780.

The family would like to thank the staff at Belle Reve for their excellent care and compassion, along with their gratitude to the hospice nurses of Residential.
