Alfred "Barry" Calben Obituary

Alfred “Barry” Calben a lifelong resident of Port Jervis died unexpectedly on July 2, 2023.  He was 74. 


 


The son of the late Alfred & Ruth Calben he was born on July 19, 1948 in Port Jervis, NY.


 


Barry served our Country with the 101st Airborne “The Screaming Eagles” in the Vietnam War.  Affectionately known as Banjo Barry he was an accomplished player having been a member with the River Bank Banjo Band.


 


His family will remember him as an avid outdoors man who loved hunting and fishing.  A lover of children, cats and selflessly helping others. 


 


Beloved husband of Margaret Calben at home.  Cherished father of Brian Moore his wife Beth and Gary Moore.  Dear brother of Craig Calben with his wife Beverley.  Grandfather of Ayla & Ellen Moore.  Uncle to Bridget Sharp her husband Alex and Charles Calben.  Brother in law of Steven Goble his wife Silvana.  Great uncle to Jacob & Alexandra Sharp.


 


On Monday, July 17, 2023, 11:00am, a Funeral Procession will meet at Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home at 154 East Main Street, Port Jervis, NY and continue to Pine Grove Cemetery for the Funeral Service. Repast to follow at the VFW, 4751 Owen St, Port Jervis, at 12:30pm.  Please make use of the Tribute Wall by leaving a memory or condolence for the family.
